Welcome to Element. This site is dedicated to tracking the technical developments of path computation and traffic engineering technologies.
The capability to compute optimised end-to-end paths across a variety of network layers, domains, or inter-domains, is an essential requirement in today’s transport and service network. A variety of technologies exist to aid in this process. For instance, a Path Computation Element (PCE), defined by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) is capable of computing a network path or route based on a network graph and applying computational constraints.
